Russians are terribly lazy workers :(
They cling to any excuse not to work. And they have TOO many holidays (= days-off) throughout a year.

It saddens me much that many Russians live in horrible conditions: in ugly apartments with no heating and hot water, to name just a few. Many houses and whole quarters look as if there’s been air bombing some days ago. There are tonns of homeless people and stray cats and dogs in the streets. Litter is everywhere… I don’t mind it that much but I can’t understand how Russians themselves can tolerate this and have no protest against such rotten life conditions confused

Yes, that saddens many Russians as well, believe me. I agree with you about homeless people and stray pets. It hurts very much.
But your picture is much too etreme to describe a typical Russian apartment. Russia is NOT just a huge slum! A lot of people from middle class can afford absolutely normal and Europe-like dwellings. Though, of course, our country does have some districts where only “certain” people can live. Many countries in the rest of the world live so.

I agree with Elena. Hannes, your illustration is too hyperbolic. I mean, of course there are people who live in such conditions - but we don’t consider them normal. And any self-especting person in Russia strives for living in good European-like conditions. We have LOTS of very cool and comfortable apartments, even hi-tech ones (pictured). And it’s not necessarily millionaires or killers who live there.

And once again I agree with Elena that you can find poor people in every country. So wherever you’re from, I’m quite sure it’s possible to find a few apartments in poor disrticts that look somewhat like your picture.
